The Witch Behind Magick & Sage
Growing Up in the Broom Closet
My journey into witchcraft began in 1999, but like many first-generation witches, I spent my early years in the broom closet. My father was a god-fearing Baptist, strict and uncompromising in his beliefs. My mother was a laid-back Catholic who didn’t mind as much. It created a balance in my household, one of control and one of quiet acceptance. Still, it meant that I couldn’t practice openly while living under their roof.
I kept my curiosity tucked away in journals, hid books under my mattress, and found that the late night hours were the best times for me to work my magick. I even kept a lock box with all the tools I was able to sneak in through the door! It wasn’t until I moved out on my own that I truly embraced my path and allowed my practice to grow into what it was always meant to be.
Finding My Power
Even then, there was still fear. With the rise of social media, I worried about being found out by my parents. I could practice openly in my own home, but I didn’t feel free to share every aspect of myself online. Although I embraced my journey fully, I wasn’t able to be completely transparent with my practice and my beliefs.
It wasn’t until mid 2024 that I decided to come out openly as a witch. That moment was a turning point. I stepped fully into my power and felt the weight of secrecy begin to lift. For the first time, I had the freedom to unapologetically speak, share, and exist as my whole self. I could actually feel myself becoming powerful and unstoppable, as if I had finally claimed what was always mine.
My Path as a Witch
I have come to categorize myself as an eclectic and solitary witch, one who dabbles in many practices while keeping most of my focus rooted in green witchcraft. My craft has always been centered on herbalism, oils, potions, and candle magick, invoking intention into something tangible that can be carried into daily rituals. I feel most in my element when I am working with these tools, allowing earth, fire, and crystals to become vessels of energy that bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical realms.
Tarot has also been a constant guide throughout my practice. It has given me insight in times of uncertainty, opened doors to deeper self-reflection, and connected me to spirit in ways I couldn’t even fathom. Reading the cards aren’t only a part of my craft but also a way I support others, offering insight and clarity that aligns with the same purpose behind the products and tools I create.
Walking With the Divine
A large part of my practice is devoted to working with the ancestors and honoring the divine. I work very closely with Hekate, Aphrodite, and Tyche, who each guide me in different aspects of life and magick. Recently, I have also felt Lilith’s presence calling to me, though I have yet to fully answer her. My relationships with these spirits and goddesses shape the way I craft, guide the energy I put into my creations, and deepen the spiritual foundation of my work. Hekate teaches me resilience, Tyche teaches me to accept the good and the bad, and Aphrodite teaches me to see the beauty in everything, especially myself. As for Lilith, maybe she wants me empower me even further. I guess I’ll find out more later!
The Birth of Magick & Sage
Magick & Sage was born out of this devotion and from a deep desire to help others on their own paths. I wanted to create tools that could support, empower, and bring moments of magick into daily life. Each blend of herbs, oils, crystals, and intention is crafted as an offering for protection, love, cleansing, and transformation. Every product in my shop is made and chosen with care and aligned with purpose, so that others may find strength and clarity in their own journeys.
A Message for You
My hope is that these tools empower you to carve out sacred moments in your own life, just as I once had to carve out mine in secrecy. Whether you are out of the broom closet, quietly practicing, or just beginning to explore, you are never alone on your path: Magick & Sage is with you.
